We use a small number of cookies that are essential to the operation of RealMargin. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or analytics cookies that follow you around the web.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser when you visit a website. Cookies help websites remember information about your visit, such as whether you are logged in.

Cookies we use

All cookies used by RealMargin are strictly necessary — they are required for the service to function and cannot be turned off without breaking core functionality.

next-auth.session-tokenEssentialExpires: 30 days

Maintains your authenticated session. Set when you log in. httpOnly and Secure — not accessible to JavaScript. Cannot be disabled without breaking login functionality.

rm_onboardedEssentialExpires: 1 year

Remembers that you have completed the onboarding flow, so we can route you directly to the dashboard on subsequent visits. httpOnly and Secure.

__Secure-next-auth.callback-urlEssentialExpires: Session

Stores the URL to redirect you to after login. Deleted when the browser is closed.

shopify_oauth_stateEssentialExpires: Session (5 minutes)

CSRF protection for the Shopify OAuth flow. Set when you initiate a Shopify connection and deleted immediately after the callback is processed.

What we do NOT use

RealMargin does not use:

Google Analytics or any third-party analytics cookies
Advertising or retargeting cookies (no Facebook Pixel, Google Ads tags, etc.)
Social media tracking cookies
Cross-site tracking or fingerprinting
Any cookies that follow you across other websites

We may use server-side analytics (aggregated, anonymised usage metrics) to understand which features are used, but these do not involve cookies placed in your browser.

How to manage cookies

All modern browsers allow you to view and delete cookies through their settings. Note that deleting RealMargin cookies will log you out of your account.

Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
Firefox: Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data

Because our cookies are all essential to the service, there is no cookie consent banner — under Australian and EU law, strictly necessary cookies do not require consent.
